Assessment services for pre-school children
Referral process and partners
Families who are waiting to be assessed may be contacted by our healthcare centre partners if their child meets the admissibility criteria to be referred to the See Things My Way Assessment Centre. We do not take any direct requests from families. Families must be on the wait lists at one of our partner institutions listed below in order to be eligible for referral:
- CSSS de la Montagne (now part of the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest de l’Île-de-Montréal)
- Douglas Mental Health University Institute
- Maisonneuve Rosemont Hospital
- Montreal Children’s Hospital
Families with children who are waiting to be assessed at one of the above institutions and who are eligible for referral will be offered the opportunity to transfer their child’s referral for assessment to the See Things My Way Assessment Centre. Should the family agree to transfer their child to the See Things My Way Assessment Centre, both parents and/or legal guardians must sign a consent form so that the transfer of confidential information may be shared between the two establishments.
Once the child’s referral information and completed documentation is received at the See Things My Way Assessment Centre, the Family Support Coordinator contacts the family to conduct an initial telephone interview and to explain the assessment process.
Ongoing communication between the Family Support Coordinator at the See Things My Way Assessment Centre and the public healthcare partner sites is maintained to ensure that the assessment process begins promptly.
