The Fundraising and Events Coordinator of the MIRIAM FOUNDATION will lead fundraising, donor stewardship and event planning activities. He/she will be responsible for developing and delivering on the overall fundraising strategy of the organization. The ideal candidate is able to anticipate organizational needs, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines with little supervision. He/she must be very comfortable fundraising, and be passionate about the cause.  With outstanding customer service, high enthusiasm, and strong attention to detail, the Coordinator will be able to build relationships with internal staff, donors, prospects, volunteers, and suppliers.


  • Lead the planning and management of all fundraising activities;
  • Implement all donor stewardship, renewal and recognition activities;
  • Work with the CEO to research, prospect, and solicit major donors;
  • Set and achieve realistic time-limited fundraising targets, agreed in consultation with key staff and the Board
  • Create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio, with funding streams including individuals, major gifts, corporations, community partners, events, and other sources
  • Develop, coordinate and promote web-based fundraising;
  • Prepare publicity material and “press kits” for potential donors;
  • Identify and approach potential community partners;
  • Lead communication with key donors and funders with the aim of cultivating, growing and sustaining long-term funding and collaboration
  • Maintain the Miriam Foundation website and ensure that content is updated and always current;
  • Work with all forms of media, and produce supporting materials such as posters, newsletters and digital platforms;
  • Continuously raise awareness though our social media channels
  • Coordinate and follow up on mailing campaigns, as well as donor requests;
  • Manage and update the database to record solicitors, gifts, pledges and prospects;
  • Coordinate appointments and visits to the Miriam Foundation/Gold Centre;
  • Prepare budgets and provide periodic progress reports;

 Event Planning and Production

  • Develop events with limited budgets and resources;
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and aggressively negotiate contracts;
  • Prepare all event related materials, manage all on-site event production activities and clean-up;
  • Build, manage, implement ideas and motivate committees for all events;
  • Work with committee members to conceptualize, fundraise for and deliver successful events;
  • Plan meeting agendas, take minutes, and manage action items;
  • Inspire new volunteers to raise money, while nurturing relationships with existing supporters;
  • Continuously improve the event planning and implementation process;
  • Develop new and imaginative fundraising activities;
  • Write creative and concise sponsorship proposals;
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for both events and office activities;
  • Promote upcoming events via all relevant channels


  • Excellent communication skills, including oral and written French and English;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail;
  • Professional and resourceful, able to work independently and as a team player, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in person and over the phone, with high professionalism;
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality;
  • High level of diplomacy, sound judgment and discretion when dealing with donors, volunteers, and community professionals;
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility;
  • Experience in fundraising and not-for-profit sector;
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant work experience can substitute for the degree;
  • At least 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, and/or special events;
  • Proven track record of securing funding for charitable activities from a variety of funding streams;
  • Design background an asset;
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite, Publisher, and social media tools
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign are an asset;
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends when required.
